Topic: HSE Excellence in Alba Line 6 Project
Achieving desired HSE excellence in large-scale projects is an extremely challenging feat despite all technology advancements and process automation improvements in recent years. Alba, the largest Aluminium smelter in the world ex-China, underwent a massive expansion project, Reduction Line 6, which increased the Company’s annual production capacity to 1.5M Mtpa. The construction phase of this MEGA Project featured aspects which directly and indirectly impacted the project’s HSE performance including cultural and language barriers of contractors involved, stringent stakeholders’ requirements, ambitious project schedules and harsh weather conditions. Despite all challenges, Alba’s Line 6 Project achieved a staggering 44,000,000 working-hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI). Through his presentation, the speaker will elaborate on the process of integrating multidisciplinary systems to achieve HSE excellence in large-scale projects.
