Chris Patton is Senior Technical Advisor to the Environment, Safety, and Health Directorate for UT-Battelle at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He previously served as Safety Director at the laboratory. Prior to working at ORNL, Patton held ES&H positions in manufacturing, utilities, environmental remediation, and environmental regulatory agencies. Chris serves on the Board of Directors for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and is a Past-President of the organization. He is also a Past-President of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and served seven years on that Board.

Chris holds the Certified Safety Professional designation. He was honored with the Safety Professional of the Year award by his local ASSE chapter in 2004, received the Charles V. Culbertson Award for outstanding volunteer service to ASSE in 2007, and is a two-time recipient of the ASSE President’s Award; once for leading a delegation of safety professionals to China in 2010 and once for leading a task force to develop ASSE’s strategy for recruiting students into the safety profession and preparing them for their roles as safety professionals. He was selected by EHS Today as one of the fifty most influential EHS leaders in 2010.
